Are you still using those small yellow post-it notes that stick everywhere on your monitor and desk? Or do you collect small pieces of information on paper? Wouldn’t it be more convenient to have all those pieces nicely organised in one central location? Then check out Zettels.
Zettels is a “personal web memo note box” as the founders call it on their website. After logging in Zettels looks rather unspectacular but it has some nifty features. The basics: categories, tagging, emailing a note to other people, MS-Access database export and print and save as a PDF.
Though there are some more features like sending memo notes to other registered users, cross referencing to other notes, embedding links and much more. Just hit the “i” to see how everything works.
And this is already the negative part about Zettels. I think it is very difficult to navigate. Without the help section (Zettels supports German and English) I was lost. If you use Zettels more often you get probably used to it, though I wish it was more intuitive.
Zettels is an interesting service. While Clipmarks and Google Notebook focus on collecting excerpts of websites Zettels’ strength are text based notes users collect. Try it and see if it fits your needs.
