Sproose - Social Search

29. December 2006 – 20:03 by Carsten Pötter

There is a new social search engine on the market: Sproose. I just had a quick look at it to see what it has to offer.

Users are able to vote on search results, votes range from 1 to 5. They can even decide to exclude a site from search results. It is really cool to see that the ranking of a voted site is changing immediately. Also users can tag search results, start discussions (based on those results) and bookmark the sites. It works really good.
There is also a profile page with tabs for messages, bookmarks and a basic blog feature. Nice, but nothing else. At least so far.

Sproose looks ok but not special in any way. That is especially true if you compare it to other social search engines like Wink for example. Though Wink offers more features like people search and collections.

  2. Hey! I just checked sproose.com, they changed the look on the home page, it is actully really cool, even the voting system has changed, you either like a web page or you don’t and it still shows up immediatly. The serch results are as good or better than the “big serch engins!”,without all of the advertisements and pop-ups. Give it a try and I’m sure you are going to like it too.

  3. Maybe I’ll have a look at it again; though I think your comment is spam anyway. But maybe I am wrong…

  4. It is not spam, my name is Pamela Burns and I have been using sproose for a while now and I really enjoy using this program. My index is complety personalized by now and it makes my life so much easier not looking page by page to find what I’m actully looking for.

  5. Ok, seems to be I was wrong. I am sorry. Really. Though several comments regarding other apps have sounded similar to yours and have definitely been spam, so I was thinking yours was as well. However it sounds like you really enjoy using Sproose. :)
