Excellent Video and Slides on OpenID
28. June 2007 – 18:58 byThere are some really good and educational tutorials and screencasts about OpenID on the net; I have linked to some of them in the past. Someone who has received quite a lot of attention and has become a well known ambassadors of OpenID is the ever witty Simon Willison. Actually I have mentioned him rather often on this blog; maybe I should consider devoting a blog category to the man.
He gave a Tech Talk on OpenID at Google this week; the slides and the video are up now. Especially the video is recommended: about 36 minutes presentation and 15 minutes questions and answers. Simon explains what OpenID is about, things you can build with it, and he also mentions negative aspects like phishing. It’s simply the best video and/or tutorial on OpenID I have seen so far. Minor criticism, though: Simon is talking fast, really fast.
On a side note, the introduction to him made me laugh out loud: “new generation of identity crusaders.” I like that a lot. ![]()

Hah, funnily enough that was a whole bunch slower than a similar talk that I gave at XTech a few weeks ago. Glad you enjoyed the video!

I know the XTech slides (yeah, actually the same presentation; just some slides altered a little bit) but haven’t seen a video, IIRC. Though if the Google presentation was “a whole bunch slower” than the XTech one, I doubt anyone could follow that one.
