Two OpenID Enabled Productivity Tools

19. July 2007 – 22:12 by Carsten Pötter

Is this the week of productivity tools embracing OpenID? It seems so. Besides online contact manager Plaxo two more applications have joined the ever growing family of OpenID enabled websites: wiki hosting service Wikispaces as well as task manager Toodledo.

wikispaces One of Wikispaces founders - Adam Frey - sent an email last evening informing me that Wikispaces supports OpenID now which is great because everyone with an OpenID can edit wiki articles rather easily now. So Wetpaint is not the only big wiki hosting service with OpenID support anymore. Though at the moment only new users can join with an OpenID; Wikispaces still has to associate OpenID’s to existing accounts. According to the Wikispaces blog there are plans to do this. Great!

toodledo Toodledo is another excellent task manager with an incredible list of features; OpenID being another one now. Actually Toodledo was the first online task manager I had used, though I switched to Remember The Milk later on. I just had a quick look at it again and I have to admit that it has improved greatly. I will test it a little bit more, I guess. So if you are looking for full fledged task manager check it out.

  2. Toodledo is definitively worth a look! Don’t get scared off - like I did at first - by the distorted icon at http://openiddirectory.com/

  3. Haha, you’re right about the image on OpenID Directory.
I am quite surprised about the quality of online task managers like Toodledo, Todoist, and Remember The Milk; they are certainly among the best online apps.

  4. Carsten,

Just to let you know that we’ve just updated our OpenID functionality so that you can associate your OpenID with an existing account.

To do so, you login to Wikispaces then click “My Account”.
