OpenID not about the User?

These aren’t good or bad, they just serve someone’s interest without thinking about the users’ interest (at best) or counter to the users’ interest (at worst).
I don’t get it. Just a provocation? I think OpenID is designed to make users’ online life easier and more comfortable by providing single sign-on to many websites.
Sure, OpenID providers could see who is logging in to any website but
- they won’t get the complete picture because not all users have accounts with the same provider and
- any provider who did this would be out of business rather quickly.
Make up yor own mind, please.
