After Burial’s seminal album Untrue from last year, I have bought another dubstep album, which was released last week: Benga - Diary of an Afro Warrior.

The album features 14 musically very diverse tracks. From slow, bass drenched tracks like 26 Basslines to jazzy ones like the opener Zero M2 to floor smashers like last year’s club favourite Night.

Quite surprising - at least to me - are the undeniable techno influences on many tracks. They sound faster, but also more playful, and help making dubstep more accessible to a wider audience without abandoning old fans or losing any impact, I think.

This is a very intense album suited for both club rotation and home listening. Recommended if you like any kind of electronic music.
