Comment Policy in Effect Now
24. March 2008 – 13:39 byBlogs and comments are tightly integrated. Some people even think a blog without comments is no blog at all. Well, comments certainly add to the conversation and if there were no comments, I’d wonder if people actually read my blog. But comments can be problematic as well.
Comment spam is a problem and personal attacks are an even bigger problem, though fortunately I didn’t have to deal with that problem yet. Most spam is filtered by Akismet but sometimes it’s not easy to distinguish between spam comments and relevant comments. Therefore a comment policy is in effect from now on:
Do not
- spam.
- attack me or another commenter personally.
- post off-topic content.
- post three word comments, “I agree”, and similar stuff.
- provide a company’s URL. If you don’t have a blog leave that field blank. This rule doesn’t apply to non-profit organizations and netlabels.
- use a fake name or email address. Exceptions are:
- You are facing prosecution
- Recognized artist names or generally known aliases
Also comments with two or more links will be held for moderation. Basically I reserve the right to delete or close comments at any time.
The policy can be found on the Contact page and is also linked to from the comment form. If you have questions leave a comment. ![]()
