Wow, totally missed this. AOL has acquired Goowy and therefore also YourMinis. While I never had a look at Goowy's webtop application - some kind of web OS - I really like YourMinis.
YourMinis provides a startpage similar to Netvibes and Pageflakes, but widgets have become even more important over time. ...

Managing tasks with Gmail? Absolutely, it just needed some proper implementation and Remember The Milk (RTM) has done a great job. You just have to download a Firefox add-on and you will discover a new pane on the right side of the Gmail page which looks like this:
